Following its recent entry into the Greek market, Diaverum held a press conference on Tuesday 24 September in Athens, to announce its commitment to collaborate with the National Health System to enhance renal care provision in Greece, benefitting patients and communities across the country.

With the acquisition of six clinics in Attica and the neighbouring Boetia and Euboea regions, Diaverum Greece has positioned itself as the third largest renal care provider in Greece, with 170 health professionals serving more than 500 dialysis patients, in line with the highest international standards of care.

The event was attended by the Greek Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis; Dimitris Moulavasilis, Diaverum CEO; Dr. Fernando Macário, Diaverum Chief Medical Officer; Elenor Mårtensson, Diaverum Global Customer Manager; and Aris Bailan, Managing Director for Diaverum Greece. Also present were executives of health organisations and representatives of the country's largest public & private hospitals, in addition to important national media.

Diaverum's main mission is to improve the quality of life of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), by offering personalised care that helps them live fulfilling lives. As a global leader in kidney care, we have a presence in 24 countries, care for more than 41,000 patients through 459 clinics, and offer a wide range of services, from preventive care and dialysis to holiday dialysis.

During the press conference, Diaverum executives spoke at length about the investment made in Greece, further expansion plans and our vision to significantly upgrade kidney care in the country, through our proprietary Care Delivery Model, supported by a continuously evolving digital infrastructure and a culture of True care.

The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, welcomed Diaverum to Greece and emphasised the importance of having such dynamic companies in the country. He highlighted that these strategic international investments contribute to strengthening the national healthcare system, by offering modern, high-quality services for CKD patients.

Dimitris Moulavasilis, Diaverum CEO, shared: "It is with great joy and pride that we welcome Greece to Diaverum's world-class network. We believe that every person deserves a fulfilling life. That is why we are dedicated to enhancing the health and improving the lives of patients with kidney disease, offering personalised and holistic care to every one of them in each of our clinics worldwide. The addition of the new clinics, combined with our international experience, standards of care, and advanced digital technologies, will significantly upgrade dialysis services in Greece".

Dr. Fernando Macário, Chief Medical Officer, noted: “Diaverum's Care Delivery Model allows us to provide high quality care worldwide. We focus on five key areas: adherence to high clinical standards, a holistic therapeutic approach, continuous evaluation of medical outcomes, patient & staff education, and continuous scientific research & investment in digital solutions. In addition, we consider access to transplantation a quality indicator of our patient-centric care, and we are committed to ensuring as many of our eligible patients are added to transplantation lists as possible”.

During the event, Diaverum executives introduced our established d.HOLIDAY Programme, which enables dialysis patients to travel freely, by providing access to dialysis services at Diaverum clinics worldwide. The Programme aims to ensure that patients can manage their treatment seamlessly while enjoying their holidays.

Additionally, our new d.HOLIDAY Fly Back Programme, launched in June 2024, was presented. It allows people on the kidney transplant waiting lists to travel within Europe without worry, as it covers expenses and ensures their transportation back home if they receive a call for their transplantation procedure.

Elenor Mårtensson, Global Customer Manager, said: “Diaverum's d.HOLIDAY programme is a revolutionary initiative that allows patients to enjoy their lives while maintaining access to high-quality dialysis care. We are particularly proud that this programme is available in 335 clinics worldwide, including the Greek ones, offering flexibility and support at every stage of the patient’s journey".
